Wednesday is the last day of the month, and the last day used to calculate April financials. The last thing we need is press reports stating Obama's fundraising has tailed off in April. Let's help him show once again that he's the candidate (presumptive nominee) who can raise the most money. I know that a lot of you may have given to the Obama campaign before, and that times are getting pretty tough economically, and no one should put themselves into hardship giving to an election campaign. Ever. However, for those who can, won't you join me in giving whatever you can to the Obama campaign.

This really isn't much of a diary. No great wisdom here. This video came to me through the blog of my good friend John Farr, and to him through Donita Sparks at FireDogLake. In this day of questioning people's patriotism at the drop of a hat; of hands over hearts, and lapel pins; of measuring who loves their country more, it spoke to me. I don't know. It's not much. Three aging "hippies," one of whom is gone now, singing a song in a field.
I posted the following diary on MyDD this morning. Within 15 minutes I had received an official warning from the Administrators for posting "silly diaries about myDD". I took that as the answer to my question about the site and have taken my leave of the place. A nice fellow Obama supporter at MyDD salvaged the text for me and I thought I'd post it here as an example of what MyDD has become.
We worry in this country about the undue influence of money in political campaigns. So much so in fact that we set a $2300 limit on how much any individual can donate to a Presidential campaign. The media works its collective fingers to the bone poring over the records to see how much money various donors have given to candidates over the course of their political lives, and rightly so.
But what if there was a Presidential candidate whose spouse received half a billion dollars in unreported contributions for one of their pet projects. What if fully 10% of those contributions were from foreign sources? What if $10 million of that money came from a single foreign entity that not only would be certain to have business before the new President, but who is deeply embroiled in our problems in the Middle East and a huge beneficiary on our dependence upon foreign oil? Would that be important?
This project grew out of a desire to do something positive for the Obama campaign, utilizing the Net roots and viral Internet marketing concepts.

It is no secret that their are a great number of us who would like to see Barack Obama become the next President of the United States. After the March 5 primaries, I, along with apparently a few others, started thinking about what else we could do for the Obama campaign. In particular, we were thinking about campaign obstacles that Sen. Obama has where perhaps we might be able to take some positive action.
It is easy for an Obama supporter to be down this morning. After all, didn't Obama lose Texas and Ohio yesterday? The real answer is no, he did not. Sure he lost the popular vote in those states, and if the primaries were decided on popular vote that would matter, but they're not. Hillary lost big yesterday, and gained a new nickname in the process.
I didn't start out to write a diary today, but upon waking and reading what's been going on in the election over my Cheerios, I find myself in a foul mood. Kos didn't call these posts "diaries" for nothing, so this little stream of thought rant is my vent of why I'm so angry this morning.
Tomorrow, once again, we are faced with the "most crucial day of the election." Barack may win. Barack may lose. I'm of the camp that he needs to win either Ohio or Texas to have a claim to end this, and if he doesn't end it tomorrow, are we in until Pennsylvania? On April 22! APRIL 22?!
That's not what I'm writing about. What I'm writing about is Wednesday morning. What if I wake up on Wednesday morning and Barack lost Ohio and Texas, and I didn't do everything I could? How am I going to feel? What really important life activities took precedence over phone calling? What totally frivolous items did I spend money on recently, when I could have sent that money to the Obama campaign instead? Could I send another email? Could I have stood out on another street corner? Could I have volunteered an hour or two of my time?
Let me say up front that I am male, and any honest reasonably intelligent male over the age of 12 will admit that he does not understand women, but I think I do try, and I think I have, over the years, made a good effort to understand the world from a feminine perspective, but obviously I will never fully understand what it's like to be a woman.
Let me also note that I hate the term "Women's Issues", though I use it in the title. I would prefer "Issues of Interest to Women", but it didn't fit as well. The former implies ownership, and I believe that many issues that are of interest to women, are also of interest to men. Now with the disclaimers out of the way, let me proceed.
A year ago, the political horizon looked much different. You were my candidate. My sincere hope was that you would enter the United States Presidential race as a candidate. I wrote to you, joined all the "Draft Gore" organizations, wrote about the topic. Had you entered the race, I would have worked, donated, and done everything within my power to see that you were the next President of the United States. When you finally indicated that you would not run, I was very disappointed, but that opened up a space in which I needed to look for another candidate.
There's been great discussion in many threads about the composition of the Clinton, Obama, and Edwards voting blocks. In particular, the question always come up "If your candidate was to disappear from the race, who would you support in the primaries?" So, I thought, why not do a poll. For the purposes of this poll, you don't get to assume that your candidate won't drop out. So many good candidates have already been left by the wayside. Let's just assume that the press finds out that your candidate has a big portrait of George W. Bush on his office wall inscribed, "To my favorite Democrat. Love and kisses, W". I figure that'd pretty much kill anyone's campaign. If something like that were to happen, or if your candidate just drops out for any reason, who would you vote for. Take the poll!

I'm not normally prone to conspiracy theories, but the following occurred to me recently. Edwards supporters are rightfully pleased with Senator Edwards rise in the South Carolina polls of late, with tantalizing visions of overtaking Senator Clinton for a second place finish. But what if that's exactly what Senator Clinton wants?
Let me start by laying my cards on the table. I am an Obama supporter, a soon to be 49-year-old male, a New Hampshire resident, and a proud liberal. I'm a fanatical fan (redundantly) of Al Gore. I like John Edwards also, and I would not have a problem working to get him elected if he was the Democratic nominee. I have voted, volunteered for, held signs and wore buttons for, and gave money to both Al Gore and John Kerry. Yesterday I came to the conclusion that I cannot, and will not, ever cast a vote for Hillary Clinton, even in a general election. Here's why.
